Who is…. Su Jackson?

Su is an improviser from Liverpool. She performed in A Wake by Mark Smith at the Liverpool Improvisation Festival in 2024 and is part of the LIF team, as their Wellbeing Advisor.

Su has a keen eye on her own development as a performer and this includes regular clown training. 

Su conceived the idea of an all women horror improvised piece of work, which was developed by Aunt Batty Knows… into the show Tales From The Armchair.

Fact: Su also knows The Jabberwocky by heart.

Karen Hughes

Who is…. Karen Hughes?

Karen started her improv life after working in professional theatre and performance. She lives in Liverpool and has performed in Taxi Tales, directed by Mark Smith, as part of the International Ensemble team for the Liverpool Improvisation Festival 2025, and a performance of A Wake by Mark Smith in 2025.

Karen also has a background as a trainer and consultant for a UK based drama-led training provider.

Karen has always been drawn to the macabre and fiendish, and as a child,  loved TV shows such as Tales of the Unexpected, which she watched avidly in the 70’s, aged around 8.

Fact: She was once part of a female comedy duo The Hollywood Heartlets and has been to Everest Base Camp.

Rosie Šošić

Who is…. Rosie Šošić? Rosie has been improvising in Liverpool for around 2 years, having trained with Liverpool Comedy Improv and co-founding the short form team Pick n‘ Mix. She also performed in The Wake 2025, directed by Mark Smith.

Rosie is also a comedy writer and recently wrote as part of the Gobby Girls team which took shows to Edinburgh and Soho Theatre. She has had work featured on BBC Radio 4 and uses improvisation as part of her writing process.

Fact: Rosie has always loved the macabre and is particularly fond of gothic horror and all its associations and is delighted to be performing with the wonderful women of Aunt Batty.

Gemma Hurst

Who is…. Gemma Hurst?

Gemma is new to improv, and has enjoyed bringing her experience of community theatre and playback to Aunt Batty Knows…

Gemma has a background in dramatherapy; and playfulness, creativity and storytelling form key parts of her clinical practice.

Fact: Gemma loves special effects make up, masks and puppets.
